86: Insufficient Funds - Riches of Freedom, Security of Justice, Bankrupt Hearts

I'm feeling some kind of way, because my heart is grieved on today. On January 7th Tyre Nichols, 29-years old, was pulled over due to a traffic stop and assaulted resulting in his death 3 days later. On Friday, January 27th the city of Memphis released four heart-wrenching videos. While I chose not to watch them, the mere thought of what occurred based on reading news articles and seeing photos was enough to bring me to tears and feelings of frustration and concern for where we are as a human race. All over the world there are news reports of war, murder, injustice, etc.
Where do we escape the realities of today? How do we cope? How do we persevere in faith given what we see on the news each and everyday?

We are not defined by our past, circumstances, or people. Live your life free based on what God says about you. We are all on a trip because life is a journey. I am grateful I'm not who I was yesterday and I thank God for constant growth. I hope this quick message encourages and inspires you to become the best version of yourself even if when you look in the mirror you notice that you've changed. My hope is that you've changed for the better and that you start to see yourself as God sees you not as you've seen yourself or how others may have seen you. This is especially true if the version of you doesn't line up with what you would like to see shine through.

Today is MLK Day which commemorates Civil Rights activist, Baptist preacher and Nobel Peace Prize winner Martin Luther King Jr. who was known for his activism against segregation and his advocacy for civil rights. Per the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the "MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions to social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community." While some see it this way others have not over the course of history. According to History.com, there was a fight for a holiday to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr.'s honor. The article states that "the suggestion that King—a Black minister who was vilified during his life and gunned down when he was just 39 years old—deserved a holiday was nothing short of incendiary." Today I want to talk about opinions and perspectives because there is always 3 sides: your truth, their truth, and the truth.

82: Why is comparison the thief of joy?

Is comparison really the thief of joy? Many of us have heard this said but do we know why some may feel that way. Comparisons are natural, in fact studies have shown that 10% of our thoughts are comparisons. That being said, like anything else we encounter in life balance is the key. If you keep comparing yourself to others and others keep comparing themselves to you no one will advance because their focus will be skewed which makes it hard to do what God has called each of us to do.

80: It’s 2023 Live Life Unapologetically

It's 2023, we will live FREE!
Welcome to season 5, episode 80 of the Confidence Restored Podcast.
January 2, 2022 I wrote in my journal "Last night I went on a date with God to Outback (he wants to isolate me to remind me of WHO I am and WHOSE I am so I will never let a person (man or woman) keep me from my calling. God is going to do it by himself so [I] won't question how it got done. [I] will know it was God and no one else." What I will say is the growth I experienced in 2022 was nothing but the power of God. I went through a lot that many people have no idea about BUT GOD. His grace is sufficient and I'm still standing regardless of any tactics the enemy tried to use against me. As I walk into this new year, I am grateful for the gift of life, the blessing of time, and the opportunity to live life free, happy, and unapologetically. Today, I encourage you to be true to you because when you do, there is no limit to what you can do.

79: What Happens When We Die? Fighting Fear, Finding Faith

On Tuesday, 12/6 I recorded this episode and although I could see myself on screen the output did not record the video for some reason but this MESSAGE is OH SO POWERFUL. Perhaps that was God’s plan, no distractions, only the WORD. Between November 12th and today, December 7th, my aunt, brother-in-law, brother-in-law’s brother, and now this morning (12/7) my grandma has been called home a day after recording this message.
Ironically on 12/2 after finding out my brother-in-law died, my 4 year-old daughter reminded me in the midst of my tears not to cry and what happens when we die. She said God brings us all back! Back to normal (spiritual beings). There has been so much death and grief in my family, amongst my friends, and on my timeline that I felt led by the spirit to record this message.

78: The smallest things can cause so much pain

On Tuesday, November 29th as I left my last endodontist appointment for an issue that is finally resolved after over 15 months and multiple treatments what dropped in my spirit is the smallest things can cause so much pain. Wow, what a powerful reminder and lesson. This message isn't from me, it's for me and whomever else needs to hear from the Holy Spirit today.  
Remember, the next time you think a decision doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, consider the fact that smallest things can cause so much pain and similarly can result in so much joy. 77: Be careful, there is a war going on outside

There is a war going on outside, so we have to protect our hearts and minds. There is a real enemy out here and it's time we band together and fight back because we cannot stop a war that we don't realize is raging in our hearts, in our minds, and on our timelines.
This month has been interesting to say the least, from dealing with my own health scare, to an unexpected death in the family, coupled with news reports of mass murders, death, and destruction it can take a toll on us mentally especially during the holidays which are already hard enough as people mourn lost ones who have transitioned, the effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), etc. My heart and prayers go out to all of the family and friends affected by last night's mass shooting at Walmart in Chesapeake, VA; the UVA community from the mass shooting on November 13, 2022; Idaho College Murders on November 13, 2022; and the list goes on. Will it ever stop? How do we go on?
